Good backpack for the price     On: 2010-03-12

I absolutely agree with the comment of Tyler T. Kutz.

Although Ive not yet tried it but taking into account my experience in mountaineering I feel this backpack will do ok with consideration of remarks Tyler made. Ill amend this comment accordingly after a short use of the item.
Pack is Great. Shipping was not.     On: 2010-03-09

Pack is great. Bottom compartment is good for a small light sleeping bag. But our -60 Wiggy bag fills up half the pack. I would have given the pack 5 stars but the pack was $35 & the shipping was $30. I didnt need it "overnight express". It didnt show up overnight anyway. Standard USPS or UPS would have been fine. Its still a good bag for $65. Ill probably buy two more once I recover from the shipping charge.
Great     On: 2010-01-17

Honestly I had not real problems with these bags. For their prices its great, especially if youre a beginner hiker best to go with this instead of buying some crazy expensive backpack. The only minor thing that was annoying was the zippers. OOOH GOD worst zippers ever, so annoying and having to deal with annoying zippers in 20 degree weather isnt really exciting. Besides that the backpacks are great. buy it, you wont find a better deal.
Major Zipper Design Problem     On: 2010-01-04

I read the reviews for this pack and thought how bad could the zippers be. I was just too enticed by the cheap price. WARNING! Do not buy this bag. The poor zipper design make this pack nearly impossible to use.
Too good to be true??? NOPE!     On: 2009-12-07

I bought this backpack for use on a 4 month trip through South America. I was a little nervous given its price, but it held up just fine. The correlation between price and quality is not always what some would have you believe. I know plenty of people with $150+ backpacks that have broken after less strain than I put on this one. Its not indestructible by any means, none of them are so why not save some money? All the zippers, clips, and other pieces seemed to be pretty thick and sturdy. It holds a ton, and the exterior pockets that dont eat up space on the inside are nice as well. Overall, I highly highly recommend this backpack. If youre on the fence like I was because it seems like it might be too cheaply made, fear not! This backpack is a steal!
Good but not Great     On: 2009-11-09

The pack is a good pack especially for the price. The zippers are hard to work but I think some silicon will help. The pack does have a lot of room and the sleeping bag compartment held my lighter bag and it would hold my winter bag if necessary. The one problem I had was the straps were too close at the top and dug in into my neck (I have a 17-1/2" neck). Overall, the pack is good if you are doing a few trips a year.
Price=awesome     On: 2009-10-26

After reading the reviews on this backpack I thought this is the pack for me. I was scepticle on the product because of the price but when I recieved it and used it, WOW! Dont pass this deal up! I love it, yes the zippers are somewhat difficult but I found the trick to them and its a minor detail compared to the quality and size of the pack. I use it in all my scout campouts, hiking trips, everything. Works awesome, great pack, absolutely recommend it.
Travel Backpack in Europe!     On: 2009-10-11

In my search to bring a travel backpack for my 3 week trip to Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain; I was searching for a pack that would be versatile enough to carry all my belonging and not too rough on my back. This back pack was perfect. I brought enough clothes for 2 weeks and I still had room in my pack for things. The pack has plenty of room and 5 pockets that you can keep belongs you need to get to quickly, which makes it convenient. It does not have a zipper to close the main compartment, but the strip locks work just fine. I recommend this pack to anyone traveling throughout Europe because when the escalators dont work or there are only stairs, dragging and lifting a huge luggage bag is tiresome. I love this bag and will be taking it on many trips to come.
Good Pack     On: 2009-09-24

This is my first pack so I have nothing to compare it to, but I feel like it worked pretty good for me. Like others have said, the zippers are a bit stubborn but it worked for me. It is very roomy and tempting to overpack. The material is very sturdy and I am guessing this one weighs more than some other packs I have seen. It is not waterproof and does not have its own rain cover. Once I got it adjusted, I was pretty comfortable. I had it at 35 lbs total weight on my recent hike. I want to get that number much lower next time. Overall, I liked it.
good price but has issues     On: 2009-09-17

some of the zippers broke after only a few days of use. Thankfully it held all my clothes for the 3 weeks in Europe. The zippers can be difficult to use as well. But hard to argue with the price.
Unless you like pain, spend more money and buy a better pack.     On: 2009-09-14

The first thing I noticed about this pack upon inspection was that weather or not it could be considered "framed" is debatable. Because while the pack is rigid vertically, horizontally there is nothing holding the weight. As a result the pack sags, and is extremely difficult to balance. On short hikes I barely notice, but after five miles my right shoulder and lower back start to ache. Ive spent entirely too much time trying to adjust the pack. There are no straps on the lower sides for adjustment, so youre left with the shoulder straps as one of the only means to adjust the pack. The only other way it adjusts is that the shoulder straps are removable, and can be raised or lowered depending on your preference. But this seems to be entirely for show as moving the straps doesnt seem to help.

Worst of all is that after about 7 miles I noticed my hands were swollen, which is an indication that the straps are cutting off circulation to my arms and hands, which is very uncomfortable, scary, and dangerous.

Other then that the pack is huge so should easily fit your gear. My sleeping bag fit easily in the compartment. My hydration pack fit easily into its compartment. The outside pockets are also very large and are great for packing your food, navigation, first-aid, and other equipment you want in easy reach. As others have mentioned however, the zippers are very stiff, and the buckle on the main belt has a tendency to pop out (I carried a spare just in case).

Overall I would say that if you plan on using this pack for short overnighters then I suppose it would work. But if you think you can take this pack on extended back country backpacks then you are mistaken. I would advise spending more money to get a better pack. This pack is a good price for people on a tight budget like me, but trust me, you get what you pay for.
bear!!!     On: 2009-09-14

I purchased this bag for a 3 day hike in GSMNP, I thought is was a great bag for the price, good padding and good size. I did not have any problems with the zippers as others did and had no problems with anything breaking. my girlfriend bought a smaller cuscus bag and wished she had more room like mine, the only problem she has with her bag was that a bear came along when we were eating lunch and decided to tear it open to get to our food.
Awesome deal!     On: 2009-09-13

For the price this thing is AWESOME! Everything works great, no problems of complaints at all!
5/5 Stars, highly recommended.
Backpack     On: 2009-09-09

The strap broke, but otherwise a great bag to travel with. I could pack so much in it. I got a bit heavy though for me, I would recommend to people who choose to fill it all the way to be very strong.
Just use this backpack for overnight hike     On: 2009-08-25

I just hiked to Hyndman Peak, Idaho. Its a 12mile hike near Ketchum.
I just used this backpack for first time. I am about 61" tall, and it fitted me very well and was quite comfortable with nice padded support for my back and padded shoulder straps which eased the load on both my back and shoulders. It has the clip in straps to go around your waist which are also padded and can be adjusted.
Also you can clip the shoulder straps together but I find that makes it harder for me to breath............
My sleeping bag fitted well in a nice zip up compartment at bottom of this backpack.
It also has straps on outside to attach my sleeping pad at bottom. There is a large compartment above sleeping bag storage that took my tent, hiking poles and clothes, and 3 outer zip up pockets I used for my jetboil, water bottle,
and a 4th zip up compartment on top of the pack I stored food in.
It caused no problems and carried everything no issues and was very comfortable.
For the price I paid (I think under $40 but shipping extra) its a great backpack and I highly recommend it. Only thing missing is pouch for your camelpack water bladder. I did not bring one so used a water bottle instead..
Back Pack     On: 2009-07-28

The backpack came very quickly. The bag is big enough to hold everything that we need to bring along, It also has a pocket and straw clip build in for a hydration pack (which i must have missed in the product detail but a nice surprise.

The main pocket of the bag is not sectioned however, it does have a draw string and a thin layer of fabric to section of the backpack.

Overall I am very happy with the backpacks.
Phenomenal for the price.     On: 2009-07-15

Ordered this for some recent backpacking on the Appalachian/Long Trail in Vermont. It poured buckets but this backpack was a champ. I used the straps on the bottom to secure both my sleeping pad and tent, then put my sleeping bag inside the bottom compartment. (Its really part of the main pouch, but you can cinch it with the drawstring to keep things separate.) Very well-thought out construction. There are two (count em) drawstrings at the top to cinch the main compartment snug from the elements -- and then the rain cover buckles down so theres really no shot of your your stuff getting drenched. Inside the main pouch along your back, theres an inner pouch with an elastic top; I guess a water bladder might go in there. When youre wearing the backpack, theres a small slit on the left where your shoulder is; I imagine the nozzle would go through there. Had no problems with the zippers. Lots of staps to secure the pack. I was none too gentle when putting it down a few times and it suffered no ill effects; sturdy construction. The outside pockets are nice and deep; I had a big can of Off! with other doo-dads in one pocket and it fit no problem. If I had to complain, Id say the padding on the shoulders could use some work. But Im about 6-foot-6 and was carrying 40-50 pounds and had some bruising after hiking for about 7 hours the first day. Not a huge deal. You cant go wrong considering how relatively little this backpack costs.
Just what I'd been looking for     On: 2009-06-29

Holds a ton and well designed. Sturdy, Comfortable and as long as youre not being a moron with the zippers, it opens and closes well.
a little heavy but gets the job done     On: 2009-05-02

ive used the backpack on one camping trip in the spring. was able to pack my sleeping bag and other stuff comfortably. the bag is little on the heavier side but works ok.
Awesome Pack     On: 2009-04-23

This backpack is so much nicer than I expected, and I expected it to be awesome just based on the reviews. Considering the price, its HUGE and super comfortable. I received the pack a day before I was supposed to, which made me even happier. The pockets are roomy and the main compartment is so big I dont think Im going to be able to fill it!! I would definitely tell everyone to go with this backpack instead of anything more expensive... it has so much more to offer at half the price.
"Crazy about Cuscus"     On: 2009-03-23

The title is for fun, but these are great packs. I have bought 2 Cuscus internal frame packs and dont regret it. The only negative would be the zippers seem stiff/hard to pull at times. I guess they bind? Not a big deal. The construction of the pack is heavy duty, plenty of pockets, plenty of straps on outside, padded for comfort, and the prices are great. If you are looking to start or getting back into camping/hiking, then these are the packs to buy. They are at least 50-75% less than the big name brands. Great packs for the money and you can put the savings toward other gear. Who doesnt love a good deal, you wont be disappointed.
back packing review     On: 2009-01-19

i have use the pack once it works well has rain flaps over zippers
hip straps witch make it comfy to carry and hydration area if you want to buy a blatter.
the zips are top and bottom for easy gear access and i am 5"11 fairly tall so it fits me well. consider your hight when you buy a pack
it has all the high end featers of a kelty and north face pack
is a great altertive to high priced packs my freind paid 450.00 for his and it riped carry 2 lbs more then mine and mine was fine so the duribilty is there.
as well.
Solid, with some flaws...     On: 2009-01-13

I bought this backpack for a two day hike in the Superstition Mountains (Arizona). I was very pleased with the product but couldnt help but be annoyed with some of its features.

The Good:

Its HUGE! I was able to fit my share of the equipment and my sleeping bag INSIDE the backpack (and my sleeping bag is fairly large).

Its comfortable. Obviously lugging 50+ pounds up a mountain is hard, but this pack certainly helps out. A layer of padding is put in front of the frame to make it more comfortable on your back. The waist strap is also padded (make sure that strap is pulled tight!)

The Bad:

It has one large compartment, and four very small ones. Much of your gear will be thrown into one large space, making it difficult to retrieve a single item (unless its on top).

The aforementioned main compartment does not have a zipper. It has a drawstring that will partially conceal the inside, and then the "flap" folds over the top. The flap has an elastic edge that stretches around the pack. The only problem is that unless the pack is stuffed full the elastic has nothing to stretch over, which leaves the inside unprotected. The top flap then buckles to the body of the pack.

The zippers are hard to open.

All in all, a good pack, especially for such a good price. Im sure you could get a better product, but only if youre willing to fork over a lot more money.

Good Beginner Pack     On: 2009-01-07

This pack was purchased as a beginner pack. I chose this one due to the features and low price. I was some what skeptical about what to expect. Once it arrived I was surprised as to the quality of the pack, very sturdy and plenty of storage. This pack does have a sleeve for a water bladder, but did not come with a rain cover. Hey for this price what do you expect? It closed up very tightly and is made of water resistant material, so I do believe that, unless you are caught in a down poor, your gear will remain dry.
My only complaint is that during my first outing with this pack the buckle for the waist belt broke. Just to be honest I was pretty rough with it, and after contacting the manufacturer they sent me a replacement right away. I would recommend this pack to anyone from the beginner such as myself or to a more experienced hiker looking for a good cheap pack.
So easy to use.. a 11 year old can even use it!     On: 2008-11-22

I researched over and over for a camping backpack for my new Scout. After reading all of the reviews and saw the price, I decided to get it for my son. WOW!!!! This thing is AMAZING!! The zippers are a "tad" stiff but he could open and close them fine. The space is so much more then I thought, upon first looking at it. After being packed for a 4 day campout, I just know I must have forgotten something because there is still room for more! Tent, sleeping bag, clothing, toiletries, food, shoes, books, lanterns, and even water... it all fit! I never thought I would find something SO good at such a fantastic price!!!
Nice pack at a nice price     On: 2008-09-27

This pack, I must admit, surprised me. Due to the price I figured I was going to get a piece of junk. I was wrong (blah, I hate to admit that). This pack is quite serviceable is easy on the back and has quite a number of nice features. I doubt if I would take this one on an extended trip into the back country, but for shorter trip (two and three days), it is ideal. I like the sleeping bag compartment and the easy access top pouch. This, for the money, is an excellent buy.
Great Bag for the Price     On: 2008-08-08

I wanted a extreme "go" bag in case of an natural disaster or evacuation. I live on a barrier island, so this is a must in my case. I planned and packed my equipment and provisions with the idea of being at least seven days without food, shelter or outside assistance. I used an old US Army duffel bag before this one (roughly about the same dimensions). However this pack beats the Army one hands down. The load is easier to carry and SOOO much more comfortable. The pockets make often used items more accessible, although the zippers are a little stiff its not a problem. The outside straps make bulkier items such as bedroll or tent easier to carry.
So far, its just as durable as the Army duffle and I can carry more load further.
The built in rain hood is a plus and the mole lets me add a hydration pack, that I couldnt before. Although, its a little strange to have the hydration pack on top of the bag, it hasnt been proven to be a serious issue.
All in all a great bag for the price. Ive "tried out" other bags, but none met my expectations like this one. If there is a negative, I wish there was some way to "lock" it to keep would be sneak thieves out in say a public hostle or evacuation shelter.
Worth every penny.
Great bag     On: 2008-08-04

I was a little skeptical becuase of how inexpensive it was (compared to other bags that seemed to be just like it), but I lugged it around Europe for 3 weeks and it worked great. Someone else mentioned the zippers were a little hard to zip, and they are, but I found that to be a very minor flaw. My traveling companion also got the same bag and liked his, too.
Best Bag for the money     On: 2008-04-06

Easy to carry and many options for people of different heights. The included rain shield is a definite plus. Zippers can be a little hard to open but I have to say its the best pack Ive ever owned!
