Airboards are the best thing to hit the snow since....well, ever.
I happened across one of the few areas in the country to allow these inflatable sleds on the slopes and after what was an obnoxious half-hour, to get "certified", I was on my own. I havent been the same since. You lie down on these boards and carve through the snow at high speeds like carving a wave on a bodyboard in the ocean.
Every time I finished a run I was greeted with people staring and saying "that was $*&*&# Awesome!", or " You were %%$#@# hauling @$$!"
And you do MOVE! Control is easy, if you can handle the speed. You might not be able to do as many tricks as on a conventional ski or snowboard, but if you just want to go downhill, and go down fast, then the airboard is for you.
On the downside, as I said, very few places that allow them on the slopes yet, but if you are lucky enough to live near one...go for it. and on the plus side, you dont have to carry heavy gear, or clunky boots always walikng around like Frankenstein. Just put on some warm comfortable clothes, and down you go.
Ive been skiing, snowboarding, and snowbiking....but the airboard still remains my favorite.
