I had three great days of skiing with these poles--they were stiff yet light, and the trigger system worked brilliantly. Then, on day 4, the aluminum upper shaft broke straight in half after a rough fall, and i was left clutching a short, scary spear. I intend to replace these poles with some complete carbon Leki poles instead of the half alu half carbon model.
