  High Sierra Col 35 Frame Pack By: High Sierra Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 4 More Information Great stable bag, but not a lot of pockets  On: 2008-08-28I used this for a month backpacking across Central America. It was a great pack, and it carried my life for a month. It didnt show any signs of wear or tear by the end of the adventure, and I was not exactly gentle with it. It was a great size and fit for me (Im 51"), and held everything I needed for the month traveling. My only qualm with this pack was that theres only one pocket on the inside, and I had to buy pouches (rick steves traveling cubes) to divide my stuff more, so it wasnt all in one pile in my bag. All in all, Ill probably use this bag on many other adventures. NOT universal fit  On: 2008-07-13The product description is as follows: "Feature loaded, value priced internal frame pack. Easy access top loader. Universal fit." When purchased the bag has a tag that says the torso strap (around your chest) is universal fit, while the actual bag fits people with torso of 15"-17" in length. It is a medium-sized bag and Im 61" and have a 19" torso, so it doesnt fit and by my definition of "universal fit" is false advertisement. The bag seems nearly useless. Its top loading and has a divider in the main compartment which seems useless except to separate your laptop from your other stuff, if youre using it as such. The only other compartment is inside the top flap that closes the main compartment, and is therefore small. There is one mesh pocket on each side that can hold a 1-liter bottle and it has a detachable "media" pouch on the left shoulder strap that has a hole in it to run headphones through. It also contains a hidden pouch at the bottom of the bag that houses the rain cover. That is all there is to the bag. If youre using it for hiking you could find something MUCH better with more dividers, more pockets, and maybe even a place to strap a tent and/or sleeping bag to. If youre using it for around-the-town, then the deep, top-loading compartment is not even close to ideal, and the lack of extra pockets hurts this bag greatly. If youre trying to stay in a budget and that budget is $50 or less, then this may be your bag (but look long and hard for something better, first), but otherwise Id get something else. Good size for the price  On: 2008-03-25I am NOT an outdoors person. I bought this pack to use on my motorcycle and carry all my gym stuff. I have boxing gloves, wrestling shoes, protective head gear, and my workout clothes. This pack fits all that stuff and a few more little items (water bottle, hand wraps, mouth piece, etc.) The only thing I wish it had were side pockets with zippers to put my wallet, keys and other small items I need to get to quickly. but overall, its a nice bag with plenty of room for the gym, or maybe if your planning to stay over night for only 1 night. i doubt you can hold more items for more than 1 nights worth. Great pack for a good price.  On: 2007-09-04I bought this pack as a day pack that will occasionally be used as a weekender. I have taken it out hiking twice so far, and it feels real comfortable. It has a ton of internal space and seems larger than other 40l bags I was looking at. I would definitely recommend this bag to any hiker on a budget. I work at an outdoor store, and I can say this bag is comparable in quality to most mountain hardware and north face packs. |
