I bought this shell recently and have been very impressed so far. If youre looking for a waterproof, windproof, breathable, lightweight shell, this is definitely worth considering.
The design of the jacket is unique in that it combines both the Gore-Tex Paclite and Gore-Tex Pro materials, producing a jacket thats both light and durable. It takes very little space in a backpack and weighs just over a pound, but should take a fair amount of abuse. The long pit zips/side vents are great if you need good ventilation for very active or warmer activities.
One thing that some people may not like is that it only has two external pockets, both on the chest. I personally dont mind this, but some like more pockets. It also has two internal pockets.
In my use, it has stood up to heavy snow and wind with no problems, and I couldnt feel the wind at all. Since its only a shell, though, it does require insulating layers underneath to keep warm in very cold temperatures.
The one design qualm I have with it is that the neck seems to come up fairly high in front, and this iritates my chin and neck a bit. This does not bother me enough to get rid of the jacket, but I sent OR feedback recommending that they change it.
Overall, I highly recommend this jacket. Depending on the features youre looking for, I think it stacks up well against some much more expensive jackets (ArcTeryx) that use the same materials, and is a great value for the money.
