![]() Seirus Innovation Men's All Weather Gloves By: Seirus Innovation Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 10 More Information great gloves I bought these gloves for my husband, who works outside. We live in Florida, so the winters are not very cold, but we do visit New York, Indiana, and Chicago every year so we do need good gloves. He says they keep him warm without sweating when he is driving or doing work outside. My only problem with these is that "they look too fancy" according to my husband- he doesnt really like the silver color. He says he wishes I had purchased them in black, but when I bought them the black was sold out. Not as warm as advertised After a few minutes in 20-degree weather, my fingers began to get cold. These gloves keep my hands from frostbite, but they definitely dont keep them warm. Warmth-to-weight ratio favors weight at the expense of warmth. Ill have to save these for early spring and get some real gloves for winter. Very content Ive always bought those cheap cotton gloves they sell here in NYC for the winters, but theyd always fall apart and Id find myself having to buy another pair so I decided to try something new and look for sturdier and heavier gloves. I first saw these without the new negative reviews up and was strongly considering them. A couple of days later I decided to take go ahead and buy them, and I dont regret it. When the temperatures dipped to around 10-15 degrees I found my hands still warm thanks to these gloves, and they are definitely not as chunky as mittens. I would say that these gloves allow huge of amounts of finger dexterity but the ratio of warmth to dexterity is very good. The price of thirty dollars first seemed a bit steep to me since I always bought the cheap five dollar disposable ones but I can see now that they are justified. In light of the more negative reviews I would still recommend these gloves to friends and famiiy. I would also recommend that anyone reading these reviews should make sure to find the coldest temperatures in their cities/states so that they make an informed purchase and avoid the bad experiences other folks here have had. For some reference when it comes to size, I myself weigh about 235 and stand at 510.5" wearing the large size and I find just a little long on my fingers so Id say the sizing is pretty accurate on this item. Ok, not great The Seirus gloves looks great, have a nice feel, stretch to make your hands fit in them and provides a nice grip. However, I wouldnt recommend them for biking/skiing/any other activity which requires you to keep your hands out of your pockets if the temperature is below 20 F. I did bike a few times with these gloves on in temperatures around 20 F (-7 degrees Celcius), and my fingers felt numb and started aching within 7 minutes! For the price I paid for these gloves (above [...]), I expected more warmth out of it. Does not keep hands warm I bought these gloves as a present for my husband. He wanted a light weight pair of gloves that would keep his hands warm in our cold Illinois Winters. He used them when the temperature was about 11 degrees below zero one day and almost got frostbite. awesome The gloves were a gift. They love the warmth, the hands stay dry, and the gloves are fexible. Plus it goes with his jacket! He is really pleased with them. Great value These gloves have a neoprene like exterior with a rubberized palm, thumb and index finger, which makes them excellent for driving. The gloves have a very tight fit (I bought XL) almost like a compression garment. The interior fleece is a very thin lining and does not feel like the inside of a fleece glove. When I first wore these gloves in 20 degree weather I was concerned because my hands were comfortable, but not warm. Since then, Ive worn them in -2 with 20mph gusts and can say that my hands remained comfortable and the wind was a non-factor. Ive also used them in the snow and have had no issues with my hands getting wet. I wouldnt recommend these gloves for long periods outside under 20 degrees unless youre doing aerobic activity. I was hoping these would replace my bulkier ski gloves, but Im not confident they would be warm enough for all-day wear. However, at this price-point (I paid $29 for the black) for weather-proof gloves, its hard to go wrong. Bad Luck? I bought two pair of these, and they both were not good. Way too small( my 52" Wife found the Large tight!) The reinforced material in the fingers diggs into your skin. Look elsewhere. Excellent gloves for active people I already had a pair of these gloves and loved them so much decided to give them as gifts. They are nice and light but very warm. You dont lose much dexterity with these which is a huge plus. Usually the only gloves you find that are warm enough are like wearing pillows on your hands, they dont allow you to do much with them. That isnt the case with these. Seirus All Weather Gloves I am a Police Officer in the Northeast and have owned two pairs of these gloves over the past 5 years. As part of my duties I regularly patrol on foot in subfreezing weather and find these gloves to be very good. Very important to me is the fact that they are thin enough to allow me to fire my weapon if necessary. Another key benefit vs similar neoprin gloves is that your hands do not sweat. Finally the quality of these gloves are exceptional. As stated before I have owned two pairs and have only replaced them due to losing them. A++++++ About the best you can find for dexterity and minimal warmth For weeks I went around to various ski shops and outdoor clothing stores (EMS, Beans, REI, etc.) trying to find gloves that were warm, weather resistant, and (the clincher) thin enough to be useful in everyday activities. Thinness was the real problem. Usually, the warmer the glove the thicker the fabric. The thicker the fabric the more likely it will fail the coin test . . . drop a coin on various surfaces and see how hard it is to pick up. Your average mittens and fleece gloves are fairly useless in this test. From what I can tell, at least in this price range, the Seirus All Weather Gloves are about as good as it gets when it comes to dexterity and minimal warmth in a winter climate. These gloves have a nylon outer layer with rubber-like patches on the palm for gripping, (what appears to be) a neoprene middle, and a very thin fleece lining. Neoprene is used in water sports gloves so you know these will block wind and keep your hands dry. The big drawback here is that theyre a bit tight and this cuts off circulation which in turn makes your hands cold. Many buyers might want to seriously look at the extra large size in order to avoid this. The nylon outer layer, for those that care, isnt that attractive or "masculine." But this is a minor detail. I tested the gloves down to about 8 degrees fahrenheit with very light activity. I found them to be very good in the 20 degree range and much much less so the closer it got to about 10 degrees. Some of this was probably due to the over tightness of the gloves which I hope improves with use. With moderate activity other users might have better luck. Given the neoprene (again, assuming) layer it doesnt seem a good choice for sweaty activities as breathability is likely minimal. (They advertise them as breathable, but Im skeptical.) Overall, if the temperature is below 10 degrees and youre looking at being outside for an extended period you will need a warmer glove or mitten. The only other glove in this category is Seal Skinz which are thinner (and better dexterity) but they were very poor at keeping my hands warm. Those gloves are better suited for an above freezing wet environment. Ive used other gloves that were warmer and more comfortable, but when it comes to being able use your hands and minimal warmth these seem to be the only game in town. I just couldnt find another glove that worked better than these. |
