  Kelty Redwing Traveler 3100 Backpack By: Kelty Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 4 More Information Pretty good  On: 2008-06-30I took this bag on a 12 day trip to Israel, which involved a lot of hiking. The zip out day pack is a great feature, but it would be great if there was a mesh pocket on that part, instead of, or in addition to being on the main pack. The day pack is pretty small so after I put my water bottles in it, there was barely any room left. Other than that, the bag was great. I fit a LOT of stuff in the main bag and I didnt even have to check any luggage on the plane! I stored the big bag in the overhead compartment and put the day pack under my seat, filled with snacks and books, for easy access. It was also surprisingly comfortable to wear and hike with. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mid sized hiking/camping backpack. Loved this backpack  On: 2008-06-30This backpack has a lot of great features. It can be carried by the top handle when the shoulder straps are zipped into their hidden pockets. There are a lot of pockets. We use it for a 72 hour emergency kit. It is ready to go if we have to leave the house quickly. We live in the woods of SW Oregon so we are in a potential earthquake/wild fire/flood area. It holds clothes, 3 days food, flashlights, etc. It is a soft pack but larger than a student book/school backpack so the size is perfect. This would be a great pack for the overnight backpacker (no more than one or two nights though). It would also be just the size for traveling away from home overnight a few days. Overall this is just what we were looking for. Couldnt be more pleased. Ugly, not up to old standards  On: 2008-06-17I have owned several Kelty Redwing backpacks. They were all fine, both in appearance and general quality. This one is much uglier than it appears in the picture. Also the overall quality is poor. It is not useful as a day pack for an active sport: skiing, hiking, etc. Selling more than manufacturer retail price On: 2008-05-30I just checked in the kelty website. The MRP is 100 USD. Amazon is selling it for 125. I dont understand. Generally the MRP is higher than the retailer price. Also the ebags and REI are selling it for 100. Does Amazon inflate price ? |
